They are free, and they are why these tools exist.

WhatsApp A WhatsApp group is free and everyone has it. That is where its advantages end. Photos arrive compressed, half the guests never join the group, nothing can go on a screen, and the good photos are buried under three hundred messages by the next morning. Snapr is free for 200 uploads, keeps the originals on Premium, puts every photo on the venue screen as it is taken, and gives you one download afterwards.

Google Photos A shared Google Photos album keeps full quality and costs nothing. But every guest needs a Google account and an invitation, there is no QR code to scan and no live slideshow, and you will spend the evening explaining how to join. Snapr needs nothing from guests but a camera, shows the photos on the screen as they arrive, and costs $29 once if you want them kept a year.

Disposable cameras Disposable cameras are charming and give you a physical keepsake. What is the cheapest wedding photo sharing app?

The cheapest paid plan we found is Digipic at 149 SEK (500 photos, kept three months). For unlimited uploads with a live slideshow, Snapr at $29 once. Free plans exist at Snapveil (250 photos), Snapr (200 uploads with the slideshow), Kululu (100 uploads, 7 days) and, at 50 uploads each, LensGo, Guestpix, Wedibox, Digipic and Snaplet. GuestCam, Easy Wedding Album, PartyCam and Momentshare have no free plan.

Do guests need to download an app?

Not for most of these. Snapr, Kululu, GuestCam, Guestpix, Wedibox, LensGo, Snapeen, Snapveil, Momentshare, Fotify, Digipic and Snaplet open in the phone's browser from a QR code or link, with no account. Which wedding photo apps store photos in the EU?

LensGo (Frankfurt), Snapveil (Germany), Digipic (EU/EEA) and Momentshare's paid plans state EU storage on their sites. Snapr stores photos in the EU, GDPR-compliant. The others do not state a location on their pricing pages.

Do I need an account to set one up?

With every tool here except Snapr, yes. Snapr lets you create the event and get the QR code without an account; you make one later to claim the event and keep it reachable from other devices.

How does QR code photo sharing work at a wedding?

You print the QR code on table cards or a sign, or show it on the slideshow screen. Guests point the phone camera at it, a web page opens, they pick photos and upload. The photos appear in your gallery and, with a live slideshow, on the TV or projector within seconds. Afterwards you download everything in one file.
