A photo booth you set up yourself: an old tablet, a laptop or a spare phone on a stand, running Snapr's booth screen. It counts down, flashes the screen white and puts the picture on the wall a moment later, under the event's own name. The hardware is whatever you already own — what makes it a booth is the queue, the countdown and the framed photo at the end.

Setting up DIY Photo Booth
- 1Find the device and its charger before the day. Anything with a camera and a browser works: a tablet is the easiest to prop up, a laptop gives the biggest screen and the countdown, an old phone is the cheapest thing you already own.
- 2Stand it where a queue can form. Beside the bar or at the edge of the dance floor — not in a corridor people only walk through, because a booth nobody stops at is a screen nobody uses.
- 3Light the spot. This decides how the pictures look more than any setting does: a lamp, a string of fairy lights, or a window if the party is in daylight.
- 4Open the booth from the event dashboard, leave the device plugged in, and put it in Guided Access or kiosk mode so nobody navigates away from it during the evening.

- A device with a camera and a browser, something to stand it on, and a charger. Nothing to install and nothing to collect from a hire shop.
- Which device to use
- All of them do the same thing: live preview, a countdown, and the screen flashing white at the shutter. Pick the biggest screen you can spare — a bigger screen is a bigger flash, and that is what shows in a dark room.
- Light
- The one thing worth spending money on. A ring light costs less than an hour of booth hire; a lamp or a string of fairy lights in the right corner does most of the same job for nothing.
When something goes wrong
The pictures come out dark and grainy.
Move the booth, not the settings. A lamp behind the camera, a string of lights, or a spot near a window changes every photo of the evening; on a laptop the screen also flashes white at the shutter, which only helps if the room is not fighting it.
The screen went to sleep, or somebody left the page.
Keep the device plugged in and turn on Guided Access on an iPad, or kiosk mode on a laptop. The booth asks the browser to keep the screen awake, but nothing in a browser can stop a guest from swiping away.
What it is not good for
This is a screen with a countdown, not a rental. There are no printed strips to hand out, no box of props, no backdrop and nobody keeping the queue moving — if those are what you are paying for, pay for them.

QR Code
The QR code holds one thing: the guest upload address for a single event — a snapr.no link with the event id and a 64-character access key. A phone camera opens it in the browser. Every event gets its own code, and it points at nothing else.
Live Slideshow
A full-screen browser page at snapr.no/<language>/event/<event-id>/display that listens for new uploads and shows them as they arrive. It runs on whatever drives the screen — laptop, TV browser, Chromecast or AirPlay — and needs no software installed.
Photo Sharing
After scanning the QR code a guest lands on an upload page in the phone's browser: one button opens the camera, the other picks from the gallery, up to 20 files per go. The files join the event's shared collection and appear on the big screen.
Photo Wall
A photo wall is the grid mode of the display page: instead of one picture at a time, the screen tiles up to six guest photos at once in a fixed asymmetric layout, and the selection moves one photo forward on every interval as new uploads arrive.
TV Display
TV display means getting the event's display page onto the television at the venue. Three routes: an HDMI cable from a laptop, casting a Chrome tab to a Chromecast, or AirPlay screen mirroring. The TV runs an ordinary web page — there is no Snapr TV app.
