How guest upload works for anniversaries
Snapr makes guest upload for your anniversary simple and effortless. Create an event in seconds, get a unique QR code, and share it with your guests. They scan the code and upload photos directly — no app download needed.
Guest upload is the core of Snapr: a guest points their phone camera at your QR code, the upload page opens in the browser, and they pick photos from the camera roll or shoot a new one. No app, no account, no password — the link itself is the access.
Everything is included in the free tier: up to 200 photos, live slideshow, QR code, and 14-day storage. Need more? Premium keeps the photos a full year, with original-quality downloads and unlimited uploads, for a one-time payment.
Setting up Guest Upload
- 1Create the event and open the guest link — it carries a guest key, so print or display the whole QR code, not a shortened address you typed from memory.
- 2Put the QR code where people already look: table cards, the bar, the back of the menu, and as an overlay on the big screen.
- 3A guest scans and gets two buttons — Camera opens the phone camera for a new photo, Choose from gallery opens the camera roll (and is the only way in for video).
- 4They select up to 20 files at a time and press upload; each file shows its own progress bar, and successful ones appear in the live slideshow within seconds.
Guest Upload — the specifics
- What the guest needs
- A phone with a camera and a browser. No app install, no signup, no login.
- Accepted file types
- JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, MP4, MOV. The extension has to match the file's real type — a renamed file is rejected.
- Max per file
- 100 MB. Checked in the browser before the upload starts and again in the storage rules.
- Files per selection
- 20. Pick more and only the first 20 are queued — select again for the rest.
- Free plan ceiling
- 200 files, for 14 days. Counted per event, across all guests.
- Premium ceiling
- Unlimited files, original-quality downloads and 1 year of storage. One-time 199 NOK, and it applies to photos already uploaded.
When something goes wrong
A guest's upload stalls or fails in a venue with poor mobile coverage.
Each file uploads on its own, so the ones that got through are safe — only the red ones failed. Have them move toward a window or onto the venue Wi-Fi, then pick the failed files again and upload in batches of three or four instead of twenty.
"Unsupported file type" on a file that is obviously a photo.
Snapr accepts JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, MP4 and MOV, and checks that the extension matches the actual file. Screenshots edited in a third-party app, or a file someone renamed by hand, are the usual culprits — re-save or re-export it from the phone's own photo app and try again.
Uploads stop mid-party with a limit message.
The event hit its 200-file limit. The host upgrades from the event page for a one-time 199 NOK, which lifts the same event to unlimited files immediately; guests just press upload again.
What it is not good for
It is not a private album per guest: everyone with the QR code uploads into the same gallery and sees everything in it, and a guest cannot delete a photo once it has gone up — only the host can.

Related features
Built for the one evening where it has to just work.
QR Code
The QR code holds one thing: the guest upload address for a single event — a snapr.no link with the event id and a 64-character access key. A phone camera opens it in the browser. Every event gets its own code, and it points at nothing else.
Live Slideshow
A full-screen browser page at snapr.no/<language>/event/<event-id>/display that listens for new uploads and shows them as they arrive. It runs on whatever drives the screen — laptop, TV browser, Chromecast or AirPlay — and needs no software installed.
Photo Sharing
After scanning the QR code a guest lands on an upload page in the phone's browser: one button opens the camera, the other picks from the gallery, up to 20 files per go. The files join the event's shared collection and appear on the big screen.
Photo Wall
A photo wall is the grid mode of the display page: instead of one picture at a time, the screen tiles up to six guest photos at once in a fixed asymmetric layout, and the selection moves one photo forward on every interval as new uploads arrive.
TV Display
TV display means getting the event's display page onto the television at the venue. Three routes: an HDMI cable from a laptop, casting a Chrome tab to a Chromecast, or AirPlay screen mirroring. The TV runs an ordinary web page — there is no Snapr TV app.
Photo Booth Alternative
Using Snapr instead of renting a photo booth: guests shoot on their own phones, upload through a QR code, and the pictures appear on a screen in the room. There is no box, no camera, no lighting and no prints — only the live screen and the shared gallery.
Frequently Asked Questions
What guests and hosts ask about most.
Does Snapr work for both a personal anniversary and a company or club anniversary?
Yes, the same setup works for a milestone wedding anniversary, a company's founding anniversary, or a club's jubilee — anyone with the QR code uploads photos, whether that's family celebrating decades together or colleagues marking the organization's history.
Our anniversary programme includes formal speeches and a slideshow of old photos — will Snapr interfere with that?
No, Snapr runs alongside your planned programme. You can pause or resume the live slideshow display at any point, so it doesn't compete with the formal speeches or a scripted retrospective — guest photos just keep collecting quietly in the background.
With up to 150 guests, will we run out of room on the free plan?
You might, if most guests upload several photos each. The free plan covers 200 photos total, and Premium removes the limit entirely, with a full year of storage — worth considering for a larger jubilee.
