How no app required works for anniversarys
Snapr makes no app required for your anniversary simple and effortless. Create an event in seconds, get a unique QR code, and share it with your guests. They scan the code and upload photos directly — no app download needed.
Guests scan the QR code, the phone's browser opens the upload page, and they pick photos or shoot new ones. Nothing is installed and no account is created — not by the guests, and not by the host, who can set the event up anonymously and only add an account later if they want one.
Everything is included in the free tier: up to 200 photos, live slideshow, QR code, and 14-day storage. Need more? Premium keeps the photos a full year, with original-quality downloads and unlimited uploads, for a one-time payment.
Setting up No App Required
- 1Create the event without signing up. You get a QR code and a guest link immediately, and the host key is remembered in the browser you created it in.
- 2Print the QR code for the tables, or leave it on the big screen — the slideshow shows it by default and Q toggles it.
- 3Tell guests the whole instruction, which is one sentence: point your camera at the code and tap the link that appears.
- 4On the upload page they tap Camera to take a photo, or Gallery to pick ones they already have, then Upload. No name, no email, no password at any point.
No App Required — the specifics
- Guest installs
- Nothing. The upload page is a web page opened from the QR code.
- Data a guest has to hand over
- None. No name, email, phone number or password — the access key sits in the link itself.
- Host account
- Optional. The event is created anonymously; an account only matters if you want to reach it from another device or keep it after the browser is cleared.
- Phones that work
- Any phone with a reasonably current browser — Safari on iPhone, Chrome or Samsung Internet on Android. The camera button opens the phone camera directly.
- File types and sizes
- JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, MP4 and MOV, up to 100 MB per file, up to 20 files per batch.
- Who can see the gallery
- Only people with the QR code or the link. It is not public and not searchable.
When something goes wrong
A guest with an older phone points the camera at the QR code and nothing happens.
Older camera apps don't scan codes on their own. Open the phone's browser and go to the code that way, or have a guest standing next to them forward the link by message — the guest link works on any phone, no matter who opened it first. Some phones need the QR code held a bit further away than people expect.
The page won't load on the venue's wifi, or a login page appears instead.
That's a captive portal: the network wants a click-through before it lets any traffic out. Guests either complete the venue's login page first, or switch off wifi and use mobile data — for a handful of photos the data cost is negligible and it avoids the portal entirely.
An upload sits at the same percentage and never finishes.
Weak signal, and the browser keeps retrying rather than giving up. Ask the guest to keep the Snapr page in the foreground — switching apps or locking the phone can suspend the upload — and send two or three photos at a time instead of twenty. Videos are the usual culprit.
What it is not good for
A browser upload can be slower than a native app when the signal is poor, and it stops if the guest leaves the page mid-upload; guests also need a phone with a working camera and a browser from the last few years, so it isn't a way to collect photos from someone who has neither.
