How TV display works for team building
Snapr makes TV display for your team building simple and effortless. Create an event in seconds, get a unique QR code, and share it with your guests. They scan the code and upload photos directly — no app download needed.
TV display means getting the event's display page onto the television at the venue. Three routes: an HDMI cable from a laptop, casting a Chrome tab to a Chromecast, or AirPlay screen mirroring. The TV runs an ordinary web page — there is no Snapr TV app.
Everything is included in the free tier: up to 200 photos, live slideshow, QR code, and 14-day storage. Need more? Premium keeps the photos a full year, with original-quality downloads and unlimited uploads, for a one-time payment.
Setting up TV Display
- 1Open the display link in Chrome, Edge or Brave on a laptop and check that photos are arriving before you connect anything to the TV.
- 2Pick a route: HDMI straight from the laptop, right-click on the page → "Cast…" for a Chromecast or built-in Google Cast TV, or Control Centre → Screen Mirroring for an Apple TV.
- 3If you cast, put the laptop and the TV on the same wifi network — venue guest networks often keep them apart, and casting simply won't find the TV.
- 4Press F for fullscreen, then leave the mouse alone: the control bar and the cursor hide themselves after three seconds of no movement.
TV Display — the specifics
- Connection types
- HDMI cable; Google Cast from Chrome, Edge or Brave (right-click → Cast…); AirPlay screen mirroring from Mac, iPhone or iPad.
- Network requirement
- Casting needs TV and source device on the same wifi. Whichever device shows the page also needs internet all evening — new photos arrive over that connection.
- What runs on the TV
- A public web page in a browser. No app to install, no login on the TV, and the link can't be used to change the event.
- Picture
- Photos are shown at the resolution they were uploaded, fitted to the screen without upscaling. Single view letterboxes; grid view crops to fill.
- Sound
- None. Videos autoplay muted, so nothing from the slideshow competes with the music or the speeches.
- Status and controls
- A wifi icon top right turns red if the display device drops offline. F fullscreen, Space pause, Q hides the QR code, arrow keys step manually.
When something goes wrong
The screen goes black halfway through the party.
That is the display machine sleeping, not the slideshow stopping. Set the laptop to never sleep while on mains power and turn off the screen saver — on a Mac, System Settings → Lock Screen, everything to Never. Some TVs also blank an input they think is idle; check the TV's own energy saving setting.
The edges of the slideshow are cut off on the TV.
Classic TV overscan. Set the TV's picture size to "Just scan", "Screen fit" or "1:1" depending on the brand, and set the laptop's output to the TV's native resolution — usually 1920×1080 — rather than a scaled one.
Casting keeps dropping or stuttering.
A cast tab pushes video across the wifi, and a hall full of phones eats that bandwidth. HDMI is the connection that survives a busy room. If you have to cast, use the 5 GHz band, close the laptop's other tabs, and don't put it on the guest network.
What it is not good for
If the venue's wifi is unreliable and you can't run an HDMI cable, don't build the evening around the TV — the page needs a live connection to receive new photos, and a frozen screen is worse than no screen.

QR Code
The QR code holds one thing: the guest upload address for a single event — a snapr.no link with the event id and a 64-character access key. A phone camera opens it in the browser. Every event gets its own code, and it points at nothing else.
Live Slideshow
A full-screen browser page at snapr.no/<language>/event/<event-id>/display that listens for new uploads and shows them as they arrive. It runs on whatever drives the screen — laptop, TV browser, Chromecast or AirPlay — and needs no software installed.
Photo Sharing
After scanning the QR code a guest lands on an upload page in the phone's browser: one button opens the camera, the other picks from the gallery, up to 20 files per go. The files join the event's shared collection and appear on the big screen.
Photo Wall
A photo wall is the grid mode of the display page: instead of one picture at a time, the screen tiles up to six guest photos at once in a fixed asymmetric layout, and the selection moves one photo forward on every interval as new uploads arrive.
Photo Booth Alternative
Using Snapr instead of renting a photo booth: guests shoot on their own phones, upload through a QR code, and the pictures appear on a screen in the room. There is no box, no camera, no lighting and no prints — only the live screen and the shared gallery.
Guest Upload
Guest upload is the core of Snapr: a guest points their phone camera at your QR code, the upload page opens in the browser, and they pick photos from the camera roll or shoot a new one. No app, no account, no password — the link itself is the access.

Can we show photos live on a screen during breaks between team building activities?
Yes. As soon as guests scan the QR code and upload, the photo appears in the live slideshow, so you can put it up on a screen between exercises and let the group see highlights from the last activity right away.
Does Snapr work for a day with several different stations or exercises spread around a venue?
Yes. One QR code covers the whole day, so photos from the rope course, the workshop room, and lunch all funnel into the same gallery regardless of which station people are at when they take the shot.
Can we reuse the photos afterward for the company intranet or newsletter?
Yes. Everything uploaded stays in your gallery for 14 days on the free plan, plenty of time to download the best shots for a follow-up email. With Premium you get a full year to come back for them.
