How photo wall works with Snapr
A photo wall is the grid mode of the display page: instead of one picture at a time, the screen tiles up to six guest photos at once in a fixed asymmetric layout, and the selection moves one photo forward on every interval as new uploads arrive.
Snapr makes photo wall simple. Create an event, get a QR code, and share it with guests. They scan and upload directly from their phones — no app needed. All photos are automatically collected and displayed in real-time.
You get full control: choose display mode, adjust speed, and download every photo in one click, and keep them a full year with premium. Perfect for weddings, birthdays, corporate parties, confirmations and any occasion where photos need to be shared.
Setting up Photo Wall
- 1Open the event's display page in a browser on whichever machine drives the screen — the link is public, so nothing has to be signed in there.
- 2Press 2, or tap the grid icon in the top bar, to switch from single view to the photo wall.
- 3Set the pace with + and −: the wall moves one photo forward every 1 to 30 seconds, 5 seconds by default.
- 4Leave the QR overlay showing (Q toggles it) and press F for fullscreen, so guests across the room can still join while the wall runs.
Photo Wall — the specifics
- Photos on screen at once
- Up to 6. With fewer than six uploaded, the layout adapts: 1 full screen, 2 side by side, 3 as one large plus two stacked, 4 as a 2×2.
- Layout at six photos
- One large photo filling the left half, two medium top right, three small bottom right. The positions are fixed, not random.
- How the wall moves
- The six-photo window slides forward by one photo per interval, so five of the six stay and one is replaced.
- Interval
- 5 seconds by default, adjustable from 1 to 30 seconds in one-second steps with + and − or the on-screen buttons.
- Cropping
- Tiles are cropped to fill their box, so tall phone photos lose top and bottom. Single view (key 1) shows every photo whole.
- New uploads
- Downloaded to the display machine first, then inserted about six places ahead in batches of up to six, so they surface within a cycle or two.
When something goes wrong
The same six photos keep going round.
The window only moves one photo per interval, so early in the evening with twenty uploads you see almost the same set every time. Shorten the interval with + while the gallery is small, or stay in single view (key 1) until more photos have landed.
Portrait photos look chopped off in the tiles.
Grid tiles crop to fill, which cuts the top and bottom of tall phone photos. Switch to single view with key 1 for speeches and the first dance, where the whole frame matters, then press 2 to go back.
A photo someone just uploaded isn't on the wall yet.
Each new file is downloaded to the display machine before it is inserted, and it goes in a few places ahead rather than into the visible tiles. Expect a cycle or two, longer on a busy venue wifi. If the wifi icon top right has gone red, the display machine has lost its connection.
What it is not good for
If people are going to stand and study individual pictures — a memorial, or a small gathering that produces twenty photos all evening — the cropping and the constant movement work against you, and single view is the better screen.
