How to show guest photos live on a screen at your wedding

The setup

    Bring a laptop and an HDMI cable

    The most reliable option. Open the slideshow in a browser, plug into the TV or projector, press fullscreen. Bring a 5-metre cable; the socket is never where you want it.

    Or cast it

    From the Snapr dashboard you can cast the slideshow to a Chromecast or a Google TV. Good when the screen is on a wall with no laptop nearby.

    Turn off sleep and notifications

    Set the laptop to never sleep while plugged in, and turn on do-not-disturb. One calendar pop-up over the first dance is one too many.

    Start it before guests arrive

    Upload ten photos of your own so the screen is not empty. Guests copy what they see.

    Pick the layout for the moment

    Single photo during speeches. Grid during dinner and dancing, when photos arrive fast.

What to check at the venue

  • Is there wifi for the laptop, or a phone you can tether to? The slideshow needs one connection; guests use their own data.
  • Where is the screen, and can everyone see it from the tables?
  • Is there a power socket within reach of the screen?
  • Who turns it off at the end? Assign one person.
