How to make a QR code for wedding photos

The QR code is the whole system. If it is easy to find and easy to scan, you get hundreds of photos. If it is small, glossy or hidden, you get twelve. Here is how to get it right.

Make and place the code

    Create the event and download the code

    On Snapr the code is on the event page as a PNG. It points to your event's upload page, so it never expires and never needs regenerating.

    Print it at least 3 cm wide

    Phones read a 3 cm code from arm's length. On a sign by the entrance, make it 10 cm or more. Matte paper scans better than glossy.

    Test it with two phones

    One iPhone, one Android, from where a guest would stand. If either hesitates, print bigger.

    One code per table, one by the bar

    Guests scan where they sit and where they wait. Both places, not one.

    Keep it on the screen

    The live slideshow shows the code in the corner all evening. That is the copy nobody can lose.

Small things that matter

  • Keep white space around the code. The quiet zone is what makes it scan.
  • Dark code on a light background. Never the other way around.
  • Do not put the code on a curved surface or under a candle.
  • Write one line of text next to it. A bare QR code gets ignored.

Does the QR code expire?

On Snapr, no. It points to your event page for as long as the event exists.

Can I design the code to match the invitation?

You can print it on any card or sign. Keep the code itself black on white, or dark on light, so it scans.

What if a guest cannot scan it?

Every code has a short link next to it on the event page. Print that under the code as a fallback.
