No account to start
The only tool here where the host gets the event and the QR code without signing up first. Every other tool asks for an account before anything works.
Christmas Party is typically 20–200+ guests. At around three photos each that is 60–600 uploads. That passes 200 free uploads, so you want a plan with no upload limit.
All of them do the same core thing. The host creates an event and gets a QR code. Guests scan it with the phone camera and upload from the browser, with no app and no account. The photos land in one private gallery and, on most tools, on a live slideshow at the venue. The differences are price, the size of the free plan, how long the photos are kept, and the extras: guestbooks, RSVP, moderation, print templates.

They are free, and they are why these tools exist.
WhatsApp A WhatsApp group is free and everyone has it. That is where its advantages end. Photos arrive compressed, half the guests never join the group, nothing can go on a screen, and the good photos are buried under three hundred messages by the next morning. Snapr is free for 200 uploads, keeps the originals on Premium, puts every photo on the venue screen as it is taken, and gives you one download afterwards.
Google Photos A shared Google Photos album keeps full quality and costs nothing. But every guest needs a Google account and an invitation, there is no QR code to scan and no live slideshow, and you will spend the evening explaining how to join. Snapr needs nothing from guests but a camera, shows the photos on the screen as they arrive, and costs $19 once if you want them kept a year.
Disposable cameras Disposable cameras are charming and give you a physical keepsake. They are also the most expensive option here: ten cameras plus developing cost more than any tool on this list, you wait weeks, and most frames are the ceiling, a thumb or the same table twice. Snapr costs nothing to start and $19 for unlimited, the photos are on the screen the same night, and every guest with a phone is a camera.

You print the QR code on table cards or a sign, or show it on the slideshow screen. Guests point the phone camera at it, a web page opens, they pick photos and upload. The photos appear in your gallery and, with a live slideshow, on the TV or projector within seconds. Afterwards you download everything in one file.
As the event host you can remove any photo from the gallery and slideshow at any time, so if something isn't appropriate for the whole company to see, it's a couple of taps to take it down — handy for a party where things can get lively.
